Just when you think Amazon have a branch in every market, they surprise you. This month brings you a new device designed to benefit their drivers and you as a customer, making deliveries easier and simpler for businesses and property managers. It’s called the Amazon Key, and it’s a more convenient, efficient way for multi-unit buildings to receive Amazon deliveries. And at Securifix, we can provide and install this system for you, with no charge. That’s right, it’s free! So let’s look at what the Amazon Key is, and how it could help you.
What Is The Amazon Key?
The Amazon Key is a little box – subtle and streamlined, installed in your building. It integrates with the existing access system in your building (without interfering with their operation), and with an app called Amazon Delivery, which you can download. Once the system is installed, the next time you or a tenant has a delivery due, the delivery driver can use the Amazon Key.
When they are approaching your premises, the driver presses the ‘Key for Business’ access button on their own delivery app. Amazon will then confirm the drivers ID, route, location and time of request, and send a confirmation signal if it all checks out. This will grant them authorised access to your premises through your access systems. This entry is time-limited, and allows them to enter the building, deliver the packages directly to your chosen locations, and leave. Once they leave the premises, the access expires and they cannot get back in unless they are reverified by the Amazon Delivery app.
The Amazon Key is compatible with 95% of building access systems, including:
- Fob readers
- Call boxes
- Remote openers
- Coded gates
- Motorised gates & doors
How Does The Amazon Key Help?
The Amazon Key for Business is the perfect way for property managers and business owners to combat the challenges they face with deliveries today. With the growth of online shopping, which has grown 3.5 times in the last 10 years (and more in the last 2 years), more and more packages are being delivered every day. But that puts a lot of strain on property managers, who lose around 10 minutes of productivity for each package delivery, and can have an impact on their tenants experience and choices to renew. This is only going to get more challenging in the coming years, and so property managers need to start investing in their delivery management systems now. The Amazon Key for Business can provide property managers with:
Security: Deliveries can reach their destination safely and securely, with stringent security and verification checks for drivers at each entry. This means deliveries can be made successfully more frequently, without extra security concerns. Because Amazon runs multi-factor authentication for each entry key, you know that any delivery drivers are verified in real time, and can only access the building when they are delivering packages.
Accurate Deliveries: Analytics from Amazon show that delivery accuracy increases significantly with Amazon Key for Business. Drivers are able to leave packages directly at doors rather than in communal post rooms, or in a specific location of the recipient’s choice within the security of the building.
No More Missed Deliveries: If your staff aren’t available to allow delivery drivers into the building, this can result in packages being sent back. This can cause a lot of inconvenience to your residents, as well as extra work for your staff in sorting out the confusion.
Money Saved: Amazon are busy bees, and their drivers are delivering packages 7 days a week, 363 days a year. This means you need to have some staff on hand to accept those deliveries, which can be costly. Amazon Key for Business opens a wider delivery window, so that packages can be delivered without the need of a person on site to grant access.
Streamlined Deliveries: With the Amazon Key, delivery drivers don’t need any help from your staff in terms of access or delivery to specific points. This means packages can be delivered more quickly, and your employees have more time to focus on their work and spend less time managing deliveries.
Easy Installation: The Amazon Key is simple and quick to install, and will be compatible with almost any entry system you have. So the disturbance to your property will be minimal, and you’ll be up and running in no time.
Free: Did we mention that the Amazon Key is completely free! It’s all provided and paid for by Amazon, including installation and ongoing maintenance, so there really is no downside for property managers and business owners.
